Yes. Students can opt for our paid trial class. It accurately depicts how in class lesson will feel like, displaying how lecture content are taught and how the tutorial questions (related to the accompanying lecture) are explained succinctly.
We do not offer passive tuition where students are given worksheets/ask questions. We teach the syllabus and allow your child to learn the most optimized method to deal with Mathematics and Sciences, often with our in-house methods and shortcuts. This allows for tackling weaker topics which are often the foundation for future tougher topics. In addition, we are able to teach ahead of schools to give your child a head start, setting them in a more comfortable position in school. The classes for Sec 1 – 2 are conducted with a curated syllabus that cycles between Chemistry, Biology and Physics that closely mirrors the Secondary 1 lessons in school. We acknowledge that each school moves at a different pace; there are pre-recorded video aids where students are advised to return outside of their scheduled class as a way to keep them in line with the school syllabus. Secondary 3 – Junior College 2 is much more regulated as the teaching outcome is the same across all schools as they are preparing for O and A level examinations. Similarly, apart from lecture videos for them to catch up, there are also tutorial videos which display the kind of analysis required to tackle some of the more regular questions.
We offer Combined Science classes where students will be taught using the combined science syllabus instead of joining a pure science class and omitting certain non examinable chapters. Learning materials are also specially created based on combined science syllabus. However, if the timings for the Combined Science classes do not meet your schedule, you are also welcome to join us for the Pure Science classes and usually, that extra bit of information meant for Pure Science students could be valuable in understanding the context of a topic which is usually a simplified version for Combined Science students. It is TSA beliefs that a student should not subject themselves to the definition of Pure or Combined but rather learn sciences as what it should be. More often than not, students are streamed into combined science classes due to poor grades obtained for non-science subjects in Secondary 2 and/or because they are in schools that have limited class allocation.
The tutors at the Centre had been teaching for the past decade and have dealt with a variety of students. Tutors will build rapport with students through understanding their needs and often go beyond the scope of their education duties such as offering advice on direction in life, being an empathetic listener for the student’s non-academic issues. We believe our tutors also have a good mix of firmness as well, enforcing necessary character building values like responsibility, punctuality and respect. Once students see results, the momentum usually spurs students to better themselves.
The classes range generally from 5 to 11 students. Have a smaller class size is beneficial for soft-spoken students who finds it intimidating to ask questions in a bigger class setting. Tutors encourage students to use their own comfortable manner to ask their queries, whether it is during classes or through the Whatsapp chat group for after-class aid, all students will get their own air-time. If you prefer a more customised and personalised approach, you may also consider signing up under our private 1-1 tuition classes.
We do offer holiday programmes during March, June and September holidays. Stay tuned to our website or social medias to find out more on the topics covered.
